The Land of the Inca, Machu Picchu
John and Cara take the train from Cuzco along the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes. From there they climb up to Machu Picchu to find it completely draped in clouds the nearly entire time. The site was still impressive. The ruins are a honeycomb labyrinth of temples, plazas, living quarters, industrial buildings, passageways, and ceremonial baths that all hang above massive agricultural terraces that fall away into the river below. What is really fascinating about Machu Picchu is how the Incas incorporated the natural surroundings into their mortarless polished stone structures. The temples, for example, are not symmetrical or at all balanced but instead follow the contours of a large rock or cave. Also of interest is the Inca bridge located behind the ruins as a possible escape route.

Machu Picchu (Quechua: Old Mountain; sometimes called the "Lost City of the Incas") is a well-preserved pre-Columbian Inca ruin located on a high mountain ridge. It is said that Machu Picchu is a place of great spirituality, and the ultimate spiritual moment of the day happens at sunrise. The footage (about 45 minutes) was accelerated and compressed to about a minute to show the progress and dynamics of the sunrise. Original soundtrack. June 2004.

Recorded March 5, 2009. This video chronicles my 16 hour roundtrip journey to Machu Picchu. The day begins well before sunrise when we leave our Cusco hotel. The first part of the journey is a two hour bus ride through the Andes Mountains to the village of Ollantaytambo, where we board the train. Ninty minutes later we disembark the train at Aguas Calientes. From here it is a thirty minute shuttle bus ride straight up in the air to Machu Picchu. After 4 hours exploring the "lost city of the incas," the process is reversed and we return to Cusco. This video does not contain much footage of Machu Picchu itself. My video @ www.youtube.com does that. From: timvp.com
Terra Mystica MACHU PICCHU Peru
TMT-DVD-103 - MACHU PICCHU Located high in the Peruvian Andes, the Lost City Of the Inca's, Machu Picchu, is reminiscent of an imaginary castle surrounded by steep ravines and mountains. Sacrificial sun altars and ritualistic monuments testify to the sun cult of its original inhabitants who used human sacrifices to appease the gods. The massive quantity of building materials used, along with the most amazing building techniques, contribute to the association of Machu Picchu with extraterrestrial influences.
